Bless the Mama's

I wrote this poem when I crawled out of my sleeping bag on my sister's couch at 2 a.m. The Holy Spirit and my sister's cat woke me up from a wrestless sleep to pen this on paper in the dark. Write when the idea strikes. It isn't always convenient, or neat, but write anyway. Blessings, Di

Bless the Mama’s
By Diane Hobaugh

Lord, bless the mama who set the bar high
Patiently waiting through the night,
Knowing her labor of love would go on.
Bless her example shining each dawn.
Bless her courage, she knows as we pray,
As mamas, need mamas in so many ways.

Bless mama’s who struggle in bodily pain.
Expecting God’s healing relief to set in.
Consoled by the warmth of a neighbor’s hands
Be their courage as they dream new plans.
For those with doubts, or faith turned sour.
Bless them each day with your loving power.

Bless mama’s whose babe’s sleep in dimly lit rooms.
Where fear drones like bees ‘round roses in bloom.
Beautiful faces of motherly light
Whispering prayers for blessings tonight,
Blessing their children, God’s sweetest gifts,
With painful prognosis of one’s life to live.

Bless mama’s whose kitchens fill pots for all
Cooking and bustling where babies once crawled.
Making meals for other’s nourishment
Praising God’s healing from prayers once sent.
They’re cooking comfort for those without
Assisting, ministering, all without clout.

Bless mama’s, who just seem to have it all,
Yet, clouded vision keeps them feeling small.
One day they’ll see the world is much more
Than wants or needs found inside the stores.
Bless mamas without, whose sacrifice,
Makes families solid, just won’t think twice.

Bless all mamas now beginning to pray
Seeking God’s mercy and grace each day
Mother Theresa’s words of prayer
Remind us to pray, remind us to care
For those in our midst, those far away,
Blessings, as gifts; shared and given away.
