It is easy to look back and see where I have been. A completed manuscript of 48,800 words tells the story of my journey of faith raising my daughter with Down syndrome. The book was sidelined for seven years, taking the bench to the start of the Buddy Walk and service as an affiliate of NDSS and NDSC.
I thought the book was ready, way back then, but no...God had a plan for me to do, to be, to live...trusting Him, relying on His presence, and expecting His outcome.
The last rewrite told the truth, without leaving God out. It was His story to begin with, my balance of ego and purpose just got in the way. Now, the story defines God's plan.
Yes, we all have to put ourselves out there, but not for our glory. We need to act and speak up as witnesses of faith, but not for our own recognition. Everything we do for others, may, or may not be seen as an earthly reward, but there will be rewards in heaven.
What is god calling you to do today?
Thank God babies start out small and grow slowly. This gives me a chance to keep up with the joys and challenges of raising a child with Down syndrome. The biggest blessings have come from getting involved with individuals who have Down syndrome and their families. They are my close friends, my confidants, and my heroes. Diane Hobaugh
